Good Fortune Awaits on Magazine
From someone who got her start in Metairie along industrial Veterans Highway, Miss Shirley has settled comfortably into Magazine Street in the Garden District of Uptown New Orleans. We went for lunch and were certainly not disappointed. There are no reservations, so in the event that there is a crowd, you are put on the texting list so you can easily shop Magazine and will receive a text when you table becomes available.
We thought we were special when introductory dumplings arrived at the table, but ater looking around, it turns out that Miss Shirley sends just about everyone a quick snack once you are seated. Those of you who have not gotten the free appetizer, maybe you need to smile more.
The menu is large so you might as well settle in for a wonderful cocktail while you are making decisions. Food portions are very generous so if there are only two of you, you may want to decide on a couple of main courses and a dumpling dish. You are still going to need a to go carton regardless.
We were able to order our own food this time. Back when Miss Shirley was in her Metairie location, she would not let us order on our own so delicious creations just popped up at the table. Uptown is so crowded that you are lucky when you get a visit from Miss Shirley as she runs around to almost every table.
Chinese food is back in New Orleans, and we are better for it at Miss Shirley's.
