Cock of the Walk
Central City BBQ has dipped their toe into Metairie with their newest restaurant Las Cruces Tex Mex located pretty much under the Causeway overpass at Airline Highway. Drivers may have noticed a very large warehouse building pop up in what has been a vacant lot for many many years behind Planet Fitness. Of course now a giant rooster dominants one of the exterior facades and repeats itself in the entranceway.
Inside space is quite large so we suspect that watching football is a goal here, since there are multiple televisions and many tables. The bar is a comfortable spacious area at the entrance making it easy to eat by yourself if your friends have not joined you. Desert scene murals adorn the walls creating a colorful and peaceful environment.
Outside is spacious as well including sunny or shady seating and an area for outdoor games. Of course this will be an interesting challenge in the NOLA summer heat so stay tuned for changes in this area.
The food selection is your typical tex mex flair and is reasonably priced. Servers share the delivery duty so the food comes out very fast from the kitchen. Cocktails are generous as well and come out quick and cold which makes it that much easier to have more than one.
Here's hoping that some of the BBQ from Central City makes its way out here so there will be two food type options within this great space.
