The Filmore comes to Life

Back when it opened a year ago, The Bayou Oaks Golf Course at City Park was the finest and most controversial golf course on the East Bank. Several years in the making, the course opened quietly, except for protesters hanging out in treetops, and coming with it was the Grill at the Bayou Oaks. The Grill was simply the clubhouse and after an awkward start, has come full circle.

Now appropriately renamed the Filmore, the clubhouse has readjusted their food menu and provides a daily happy hour from 2PM until close. The very friendly bartenders tell me that last call is around 6:45 PM daily unless there are a lot of patrons who may push for a later close. Sunday brunch is now also part of the new menu and as is typical in NOLA, bottomless Mimosas are part of the fun.

The practice putting course is off the very large fan covered patio and kid's camp takes place daily in front of your eyes. Had no idea they truly made golf clubs this small but it was fun to watch the counselors carry almost every kids golf bags on their shoulders at one time.

The Filmore is now an enjoyable addition to Lakeview and a great place to get a quick bite and a cocktail.
